  • Chimineas were originally constructed of clay and existed thousands of years ago in Mexico and central America. They were used for both heating a dwelling and also as a cooking platform. Shaped like a pot-bellied stove with a tall chimney perched on top, this design radiates heat outwards, not only from the fire and the body of the vessel, but also radiates from the chimney as the smoke passes through it. It is a very efficient heater because of these traits.Although originally made of clay, most are now made out of modern metals giving them increased durability. However, for you traditionalists out there, clay chimineas are still available, and one makes this list.Design and practicality are the basis for the best chimineas, but price and versatility will also be considered. We've compiled the best chimineas in 2022.

  • If you’re a fan of making pizza at home, owning a pizza cutter is essential. Use a knife for the job and it will make a mess of the pizza you’ve worked so hard to craft. The right cutter will allow you to easily slice through the pizzas thick end crust while keeping the cheese and toppings intact. In my search for the best pizza cutters in 2022, each of these selections needed to be able to cut clean slices, have a comfortable and sturdy grip, as well as being dishwasher safe since washing pizza cutters by hand is time consuming and slightly dangerous.

  • Ironing can be a thankless chore and when it's time to buy a new ironing board, it can be tempting just to pick up the cheapest model and be on your way. But buying the best ironing board in 2022 means finding a model that’s sturdy, well-made, and fits your laundry needs. If you spend a bit of extra time and money, the right ironing board should last for many years (and shirts) to come. For smaller jobs, touch-ups and crafts, a tabletop ironing board is convenient. But for everyday ironing, a full-sized ironing board will produce the best results. The best ironing board is one that’s the largest size you can comfortably accommodate. The larger the ironing board, the easier it is to get crease-free results with minimal effort. This is why we’ve chosen to include ironing boards which have larger than average ironing surfaces. These models also feature mesh tops to allow steam to escape, they're height-adjustable to allow for use when standing or sitting, and have sturdy frames which stay stable and can stand up to years of use. We’ve chosen models offering the above traits, with the exception of the magnetic ironing mat which is a great choice for when you don’t have the room for a traditional ironing board. We’ve also included a single tabletop ironing board for use when space is at a premium; while the height of this particular board might not be adjustable, its large ironing surface and retractable iron rest make it convenient and easy to use. Price on these ironing boards will vary, but we’ve prioritized design and quality over budget-friendly picks.

  • Waffle irons mold the waffles as the batter flows and when heat is applied, the batter hardens into a crisp and delicious artistic pancake. There are many styles and types of waffles, some specific to their original country, but the electric waffle irons here will all be capable of making standard square or round waffles and they’ll all have a non-stick coating for ease of waffle extraction. All of the units on the list of best waffle irons in 2022 were also chosen because they’re easy to use and maintain, allowing you to capture the art of making waffles. You'll have to choose a style or particular type that works best for you or your kitchen setting, but each of these picks will turn out quality waffles. However, if you use lower quality ingredients or the ingredients aren’t mixed correctly, you will get inferior waffles regardless of which waffle iron you employ.

  • Motorcycle lifts are used to elevate your motorcycle into the air for tasks like mechanical maintenance or detailing, eliminating the need to lie on the floor or crouch down. They’re also a must because motorcycles don't necessarily work with normal car jacks. There are two types of best motorcycle lifts in 2022. The first is very similar to a regular car jack, only it has two elongated platforms where your motorcycle sits (as opposed to the single, smallish lifting platform you find on most car jacks). The second is a table lift which are full platforms allowing your bike to be lifted fairly high in the air.Obviously the type of motorcycle lift you want to buy depends on a number of different factors. Since most people don’t have large, open garages with tons of available space, all the lifts on this list are the smaller, non-table varieties. All of these lifts can also hold at least 1000 pounds of weight, so you don’t have to worry about whether or not the lift you purchase will be able to hold your bike. Finally, each lift below offers some sort of manufacturer’s warranty.

  • While many people prefer the simple elegance of hard floors, they can be deceptively difficult to keep clean. Without regular cleaning, wood loses its shine, grime builds up, and gunk gets hopelessly stuck in the cracks. While the most expensive cleaners make use of features such as rotating brushes to remove gunk and grime, budget-friendly models also do a great job with special pads and the ability to vacuum, clean, rinse, and dry with minimal effort. Some even help to sanitize the floor with the assistance of optional cleaning solutions.Although low-budget options may require a bit more work, they can still clean your floors well. We've chosen a selection of the best hardwood floor cleaners in 2022 that excel at efficiently cleaning not only hardwood but other hard floor surfaces as well, such as tile. These models strike a balance between fantastic features and a budget-friendly price, so read more below.

  • While regular mops require lots of elbow grease and time to get floors clean, a steam mop uses steam to loosen dirt and grime with a cleaning solution sometimes added for tackling tough messes) A follow-up pad finishes the job by wiping the entire mess up off the floor with the result being sanitized, and residue-free floors with less effort and time spent cleaning. The best steam mops in 2022 on this list are easy to use and very effective for tough cleaning jobs, thanks to features such as dual water tanks, adjustable steam output, and elongated power chords. These models are lightweight for easy maneuverability around the house, durable construction for long-lasting use, and reasonably affordable given their capabilities.

  • Refrigerators are irreplaceable in the modern household, allowing for food to be kept fresh for substantially longer periods of time. Fridges for home use were invented in 1913, but these convenient appliances have come a long way since their introduction. Modern refrigerators require minimal maintenance and offer numerous conveniences such as automatic defrosting, chilled water and ice dispensers, and more. “Smart” refrigerators that include WiFi, large screens, and even the ability to play music are also becoming more common - although they remain pricey for the time being.Modern refrigerators also tend to be extremely efficient and quiet, although some of the more budget-friendly models may still be best-suited for garage or basement use due to their noise levels. Fridges range in size, from small units just for holding a few cans of soda or beer, to oversized ones that are suited for large families. Style also varies, with the traditional freezer on top layout having been around since the 1940s. This style continues to be available, but has lost popularity as new styles such as French Door refrigerators become less expensive. Most midrange-and-up fridges can be had in a variety of colors, including the ever-popular stainless steel. Our lists cover the best refrigerators in 2022 and a variety of price points to help you choose the best option for your household. • Snowblowers come in two types. There are the single stage models that collect and then throw the snow with one blade, or auger as it is sometimes called. Then there are the two stage models that use a dedicated auger to funnel snow back into an impeller that throws the snow out of the machine. Single stage units are best used for lighter snow falls and smaller areas where the snowfall doesn't exceed 6 to 10 inches. They don't work well clearing snow drifts or very deep snow. Two stage units, on the other hand, are made for clearing deep snow deposits and high drifts. These types are the big high-horsepower self-propelled blowers that will clear huge swaths down driveways or sidewalks. Gas powered units come in either single stage types or two stage types, while electrics generally only come as single stage or electrically powered snow shovels. Even though electric single stage blowers rival their gas powered brethren for power, always having to be attached by a cord limits their effectiveness over longer or larger areas. The upside is that an electric type has virtually zero maintenance and always starts with the push of a button. Conversely, having to start a gas powered snow blower in the dead of winter can be a serious chore. For many city or suburban homesteads, the hassle free aspect of using an electric is a winner every time, but for those with long driveways or walkways, a gas powered blower is the way to go. We've compiled the best snow blower in 2022.

  • Belt sanders can be broken down into two categories: handheld and bench- mounted. They both operate under the same principles, with the bench-mounted ones being much larger than the portable ones. Typical belt size for a bench-mounted belt sander is 6 inches wide, while the most common size for portable belt sanders is 3 x 21 inches. Of all the types of portable sanders on the market, belt sanders are the fastest cutting. These tools are normally used with a coarse grit belt to take off material quickly, whether they are being used for smoothing a hardwood floor, leveling the surface of a butcher block table or countertop, or stripping finish off of a chaise lounge on the patio. They don’t work well for finish sanding; you’re better off with a vibratory sander or a random-orbital for that. Due to their size, these sanders are considerably heavier than other types of portable sanders. In most cases, this is an advantage, as the weight of the tool eliminates the need for the operator to lean on it. For larger projects, there are a few four-inch-wide portable sanders on the market. However, if the sander is going to be used to strip paint off existing doors, molding, and other vertical surfaces, be sure to buy the lightest weight one possible. The biggest issue when selecting a belt sander is the tracking. The alignment of the two pulleys that the belt travels over can make it wander to one side or another. If it does this too much, it can damage the belt, the tool, or the workpiece. Best belt sanders in 2022 generally have better tracking mechanisms, with a few of them having fully automatic tracking which you don’t have to adjust. Power is a secondary issue, but is also important. If a belt sander is going to be used a lot, you’ll want the biggest motor you can get. The same can be said if you’re the type of woodworker who leans on his sanders a lot. Without enough power, the sander can get bogged down, slowing the work. It can also overheat, which could ultimately damage the tool. Most belt sanders are designed to have one side where the belt runs right up to the edge of the tool for flush cutting. This allows you to sand the entire surface - even the surface of the floor adjacent to a wall. A few of them also do a pretty good job of providing good clearance at the front edge for getting close to vertical surfaces without damaging them. A new design that is appearing on the market has the front pulley smaller than the rear one, much like the wheels on a dragster (racing car) - this allows the sander to get under overhanging objects, such as the toe kick on kitchen base cabinets. The handles vary on these sanders, although most have a front and rear handle. You want something that will be comfortable, preferably with a rubber overmolding. A few provide movable front handles, allowing you to position them where they will work the best for you, but this feature is pretty rare. One last little detail which can be useful is how the top of the sander is designed. When using the belt sander for small pieces, it can be useful to be able to turn it upside-down and clamp it in a vice or lay it on a workbench. Most allow this, although a few don’t.

  • Whether you are a car enthusiast or a hobbyist, attempting to work in your garage during the cold winter months can create a challenge, especially if your garage is unfinished and lacks sufficient insulation. Conventional space heaters cannot produce enough heat to warm a large area, and the lack of insulation in the garage will fail to retain whatever heat a small space heater does produce. The following lists of the best garage heater in 2022 highlights different styles of garage heaters designed to produce enough heat to make even the largest garage more comfortable during the winter. Choosing the right garage heater depends on the size of your garage, how you intend to power the heater, and whether you are looking for a portable heat source or one that is permanently installed.

  • Carbon Monoxide is a deadly gas which is colorless and odorless. In most fatal home fires, it’s carbon monoxide which kills victims long before they succumb to smoke inhalation or are burned by the fire. Early symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are similar to the flu, making it difficult to detect by symptoms alone. These symptoms can include a dull headache, weakness, dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath, confusion, blurred vision and chest pain. Since most people are more familiar with the flu than with CO2 poisoning, they assume their symptoms are flu-related, prolonging their exposure to the gas making them sick; this can be a fatal error. Unlike smoke, which is fatal if the concentration in the air is high enough, carbon monoxide usually builds up in the system over time. One can get carbon monoxide poisoning from either a low concentration of carbon monoxide over a long period of time or a high concentration over a short period of time. Therefore, carbon monoxide detectors need to determine the average level of carbon monoxide in the environment over time, determining if it is high enough to cause problems. Smoke detectors don't detect carbon monoxide. If you have a smokeless fire going or a contained fire, it’s possible for carbon monoxide levels to reach fatal levels without a smoke detector going off. This could also occur with vehicle exhaust, a leaky furnace or an improperly vented hot water heater for example. Ideally, you should have both carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors in your home. A minimum of one per floor is recommended, with additional detectors installed in bedrooms. Although this make for a lot of detectors, it provides the best protection for your family. Having a detector go off in the basement, when everyone is asleep on the second floor of the house doesn't help anyone. Carbon monoxide detectors can run off of your house current, battery or a combination of the two. In the cases where a detector uses both, the battery serves as a power backup for the AC house current. That way, you’re always guaranteed a working detector, even in a power outage nor worry about the battery dying at the wrong time. The best carbon monoxide detectors are now using Lithium-Ion batteries for prolonged battery life and they’ll also have a test button-like a smoke detector. Some models are now made so several units can be interconnected with one another; if one alarm goes off, it will alert and activate the others in your home. Check out our top picks for best carbon monoxide detectors in 2022 .

  • Ice scrapers - also known as ice choppers or ice breakers - are made to break through standing ice on sidewalks, driveways, porches, or patios. They can be used by using brute force to ram the blade downwards onto the ice, shattering it and making it easy to shovel away. In scraper mode they can scrape under the ice edge which breaks up sheets of ice into removable pieces. Whether you need a chopper, a scraper, or a combination of the two, you'll have to decide what blade type suits your needs bestThe best ice scrapers in 2022 on this list were chosen in part for their ergonomic or shock-reducing handles, coupled with a tough and heavy steel blade for chopping or scraping. Blade width was also considered since wider blades distribute more of the force over a greater area while smaller width blades concentrate the force of the blow more. Plus, there will also be a best bang for the buck scraper/chopper featured.

  • A snow thrower can best be described as an electric snow shovel and plug into any standard electrical outlet. They have a maximum of 100 feet of extension cord, recommended for all corded models, and work best when throwing snow off of porches, patios, or stairs. Although technically many are powerful enough to take on larger jobs, their small snow intake size would mean spending double or triple the time outside snow blowing than using an actual snowblower for the same task. Their strength lies in the fact that they are lightweight and easy to maneuver, making them able to throw snow out of the way where heavier, more cumbersome snow blowers could never go.The main selection criteria used when considering picks for inclusion on this list was their ease of use, their weight, having an ergonomic handle, as well as any additional features making them simple to use with less hassle. Price also played a significant role, because, for the most part, they’re only going to be used for small blowing tasks; they don't need add-ons or special features that would jack up the price.

  • Cordless tools are rapidly overtaking their corded cousins in the construction trades, as well as for the average homeowner and do-it-yourselfer. The convenience of cordless tools more than makes up for their increased price in many people's eyes, helping them to justify the expense. When you have to do a quick project, cordless tools make it much easier to accomplish. These cordless combo tool kits combine several tools from the same manufacturer, all of which operate off the same power system. Typically, the kits come with two batteries and a charger, making it possible to work more or less continually, depending upon the recharge speed of the batteries. Since these tools all use Lithium-Ion batteries, it’s possible to pull a partially recharged battery from the charger and use it without any risk of damage. There are a couple of advantages of buying these types of kits rather than buying individual tools. First of all, the kits provide several tools for a lower price than if you were to buy them individually which ultimately saves you money. A second savings comes from the fact you’re buying all of your tools for the same battery system. That reduces cost on batteries and chargers, especially when you start comparing it to having a mishmash of tools from different manufacturers. All of the kits have at least one drill and at least two saws. The saws are circular and reciprocating. While that doesn't give you the capability of cutting curves like you can with a scroll saw, it will handle most construction related tasks. Some of the larger kits add a scroll saw, as well as other tools. It's real easy to get carried away when you start looking at kits like this and decide you need everything. But before buying, take the time to think about the projects you do and the types of tools needed for them. On the flip side, some of the additions to the kit may be what you end up using the most. Many cordless tool manufacturers are now building smaller sized impact drivers, which are great for driving screws into a deck or other tasks where a normal drill/driver doesn't have enough torque. You'll also find work lights in these kits which there are never enough of in anyone's tool kit. Another thing to consider when choosing a kit is any cordless tools you currently own. If you already have some tools from a manufacturer, the addition of more from the same manufacturer could put you in a position of having more chargers and batteries available for your tool collection. Unless there’s a real reason to buy another brand, it’s worth purchasing consistently. All of the kits come with soft-sided cases for storing and carrying your tools. This is convenient if you’re limited in workshop space, or just for carrying the tools to the area where you are working on the project. These heavy-duty canvas cases are rugged and can handle the weight of multiple tools, without tearing. Finally, some of the manufacturers offer more than one combo kit. In those cases, I've listed their best cordless tool combo kits in 2022 but you might want to check their websites to see if they have any smaller kits available.

  • A speed wrench is used to remove fasteners at a quicker pace than a traditional wrench, which requires the user to remove and reposition the tool after extending it through its range of motion. They’re also handy to use with fasteners requiring a lot of turning, like wheel nuts. Users just grip the end and spin the large, “C” shaped handle as quick as they can.Speed wrenches are great because they help to make repetitive jobs like removing the wheel from your car faster and easier. For the purposes of this best speed wrenches list in 2022, each tool listed features a drive tang size of 3/8-inches. Each wrench is also at least 15-inches long overall, and features some type of handle at the end which cuts back on hand fatigue. Finally, each wrench has a polished surface to make cleanup easier should something spill on the tool, and resists corrosion.

  • A strap wrench is a handheld tool that uses a large strap to tighten and loosen objects. It works by gripping an object and holding tight with the strap, thereby preventing slippage via friction. The tool is most often used with oil filters and awkwardly shaped objects, as well as things that are in tight or hard-to-reach places.Strap wrenches are useful to keep around the home because of the way they tighten and loosen objects.Given the right sized strap, the tool can fit around and loosen most objects without scratching, denting, or leaving behind any sort of mark. This makes them great for use with DIY projects where the aesthetic quality of something needs to be preserved such as bathtubs, painted furniture, showerheads, or vehicles. The following best strap wrenches in 2022 are all heavy duty with a solid metal handle. They also all feature a durable strap, rubber or nylon, as well as some type of protective warranty.

  • Adjustable wrenches feature an adjustable head or jaw that expands or contracts to fit a variety of differently sized nuts, bolts, and fasteners. You typically turn a gear that slides one end of the jaw towards or away from the other end of a jaw which is generally locked in a fixed position at the end of the handle.Adjustable wrenches are a necessary part of any toolbox because of their versatility. Whether you have a 10-millimeter bike brake nut that needs tightening or a loose 16-millimeter hexagon bolt on the underside of a table, you’re covered as long as you have an adjustable wrench. Pretty much any DIY fastening job can be solved with a well-placed adjustable wrench, making them a great investment for individuals needing a general-purpose tool to keep on hand. Each wrench on this list comes with a warranty, so you can get it replaced should anything go wrong. Finally, each wrench features a corrosion-resistant outer coating, either chrome or satin nickel to ensure your new tool lasts for as long as possible.

  • A good tactical flashlight ain't cheap. You need to be prepared to pay for quality and the best tactical flashlights that are worth your hard earned dollar are made of high-performance materials and provide powerful and varied brightness level options. LED emitters in these flashlights are impact resistant and can deliver light output at up to a blinding 600 lumens or higher; considering that a mere 80 lumens of light brightness is enough to temporarily blind someone, these lights are more than ready, willing, and able to deter any approaching threats. They also have long beam distances with flood and/or spotlight capabilities for a clear view of your surroundings in the dark. Many of these units run on rechargeable batteries which helps cut down on the price of power cells, while some others use disposable versions of batteries that aren't as widely used as a common AAA cell. C123A lithiums are often the preferred type. While multiple illumination levels and lengthy runtimes for each are important (the average is about 90 minutes for most tactical lights on high power), you also want to make sure the flashlight body and lens window are virtually indestructible. The best tactical flashlights are made of high-grade metals and are covered in anodized coating with shock-resistant glass or other similar materials used to house the emitter. They're also weather resistant or even completely waterproof, and can handle hard impact when things get hairy out in the field. • Home cooks who'd like to make their ow pizza should definitely consider getting a specialized pizza pan or stone. With one of the best pizza pans in 2022 and a great pizza crust recipe, it's easy to make thin crust, thick crust, or Chicago-style pizzas that taste better than the ones you order out. In Italy, pizzas are made in stone ovens that get up to 800 or 900 degrees. Though a home kitchen can't take that kind of heat, it's still possible to make authentic pizzas at around 500 degrees if you use a pizza stone. These stones are made from ceramic or soapstone, both of which are materials that don't transfer heat easily. This means that pizza stones heat up slowly and stay hot for a long time, cooking your pizza quickly and giving it a crispy crust. It's also possible to make pizzas in metal pans which may have solid bottoms or holes that keep the crust from getting soggy. No matter what kind of pizza you plan to make, it is worth considering any of our favorite pizza pans below.
