How to remedy a wrong number painted on your curb

An earlier Ask Laz video addressed the question of whether you have to pay when someone paints your house number on the curb without your permission (you don’t).
Nina wants to know what you can do if someone paints your curb -- again, without permission -- but puts the wrong number there.
The trick is being able to identify and contact those responsible for the screw-up. If you can, let them know they made a mistake and ask them to fix it. Whether you want to give them any money is your business.

If the painters won’t remedy the problem, your next move would be to report them to a city agency. In Los Angeles, that would be the Bureau of Street Services.
Again, this assumes you can identify the culprits. If not, there may not be much local officials can do.
Which brings us to a final suggestion. If all else fails, your next stop should be Home Depot or a hardware store. You’ll need a can of paint and a brush.
