EBay launches beta same-day delivery program in San Francisco
EBay has begun a beta, same-day delivery program people can use in San Francisco after receiving an invite.
The new service, called eBay Now, allows users to make purchases of more than $25 from local stores and receive them the same day after paying $5 for shipping.
EBay began inviting people to the service over the weekend, but anyone can register for an invite on this page.
As an introductory offer, eBay is taking $15 off users’ first purchase as well as waiving the shipping fee on their first three purchases.
EBay Now is an iOS app and works on the iPhoneas well as the iPad.
San Francisco residents can use the service between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, but orders have to be placed at least a half hour before the store selling the product closes.
Among the stores participating in the eBay Now program are Macy’s, Toys ‘R’ Us, Target and Best Buy, according to TechCrunch.
EBay hasn’t said if the program will expand to other cities, but TechCrunch says the company is gauging user interest to determine what it will do next.
