Twitter improves search, adds email feature

Twitter is rolling out new features that should make it easier to find pictures and videos as well as email tweets to people who don’t use the social network.

The San Francisco microblogging service said that when users search a topic or hashtag, the results page will now display a grid showing images and videos.

Twitter also said that its search tool will now help users better understand why they see the tweets they do in their results. Tweets in search results will now show who has retweeted them or have listed them as their favorites, Twitter said in a blog post.

Additionally, tweets that link to pictures and news stories will automatically show previews when they come up on search results. That means that when you search a topic and scroll through the results, you should see images and news summaries without having to click the links.

Twitter said it is also adding a “More” button below tweets that can be clicked to email the tweet to people, including those who are not users of the social network.

If you email a tweet, Twitter said, you can add your own comment to the message.

The features are in the process of being rolled out to all users.
