Nokia Lumia 625, a large-screen smartphone for the budget conscious
If you’re looking for a large-screen smartphone but don’t want to spend too much, Nokia may have you covered.
The Finnish phone maker unveiled Tuesday the Lumia 625, a 4.7-inch smartphone built for users on a budget.
Nokia said it will be available to users for about $290 before any carrier subsidies, which are common in the U.S. That’s about half the cost of other smartphones with large screens.

“The latest member of the Nokia Lumia family combines a big screen and high-speed 4G Internet access to bring a premium entertainment and communication experience at a very affordable price,” Nokia said in a statement.
Besides the large screen and low price, the Lumia 625, which runs Windows Phone 8 operating system, uses a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. The device comes with 8-gigabytes of storage and a 5-megapixel rear camera.
The Lumia 625, which will ship this summer or in fall, will come in orange, yellow, bright green, white and black color options.
