Amazon Japan sells trash can that looks like the new Apple Mac Pro

Apple unveiled a redesigned version of its Mac Pro that drew rave reviews this week, but the machine won’t go on sale until later this year.

Fortunately for eager Apple fans, it turns out there’s a popular Japanese trash can they can purchase and hold onto while they wait for the new computer to come out.

The trash can became an Internet sensation soon after Apple revealed its new computer during the keynote of its Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday.

When the new Mac Pro was revealed, it caught the eyes of the people over at Amazon Japan, who noticed a striking resemblance between the new computer and one of their trash cans. The social media team sent out a tweet with a link to their trash can joking that the two items were not the same product.

That tweet has turned out to be a great bit of marketing for Amazon Japan and has been retweeted more than 13,500 times and “favorited” more than 3,000 times at the time of this writing.

The trash can, which is also small black and in the shape of a cylinder, is now Amazon Japan’s second best selling interior furniture item and its best selling garbage can, according to Kotaku.

But while the Amazon trash can does look a lot like the Mac Pro, that’s not the only household item the Apple machine resembles. One of my colleagues joked that he thinks it looks like a black beer Koozie. Do you see the resemblance?
