Bob Pisano, the former president of the Screen Actors Guild and head of the Motion Picture Assn. of America, and his wife, Carolyn, are ready to tap a new owner for their longtime home in the Pacific Palisades Riviera.

The couple’s country French-inspired residence in the coveted Amalfi Rim area is going up for sale at $8.399 million, according to listing agent Fran Flanagan of Coldwell Banker Previews.

Set behind double gates, the roughly 5,600-square-foot home exudes a relaxed yet sophisticated style that blends European elegance with a range of American comforts.

A formal living room dressed in Venetian plaster walls features handsome beamed ceilings and one of three wood-burning fireplaces, while a dining room has a wall of built-in bookshelves. Antique sconces adorn the walls.

In the heart of the home, a family room opens to a circular breakfast area and an adjacent country-style kitchen. A maid’s room with a private entrance now doubles as a gym. There’s also a hidden wine cellar.

A long corridor lined with a row of French doors connects to two of six bedroom en suites. The master suite, with a wood-burning fireplace and two walk-in closets, takes in ocean views from a private balcony.

Outdoors, grounds of nearly three-quarters of an acre center on a wide stone patio that surrounds a swimming pool and spa. A sprawling lawn, rose arbors and gardens filled with lavender, citrus and olive trees complete the setting.

Pisano was president and CEO of the Motion Picture Assoc. of America from 2005 to 2011 and, before that, the chief executive of the Screen Actors Guild. More recently, he served as an advisor to the late Tom Sherak, the former president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and film czar for Los Angeles.
