Dexter Scott King puts his Malibu retreat up for sale
Dexter Scott King, the second son of civil rights leader the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, has listed his dramatic contemporary house in Malibu for sale at $4.85 million.
The ocean-view house sits behind gates on more than an acre of lushly landscaped grounds. Garden paths traverse the property, which includes mature palm trees and more than a dozen fruit trees.
A cabana, koi pond, waterfall spa and a swimming pool complete the grounds.
The 6,823 square feet of turn-key living space has a home theater, a gym, an office, an elevator, four bedrooms and six bathrooms.
A catwalk hallway connects living space on the upper level. Balconies expand the views on two levels.
King, 54, is chairman of the King Center in Atlanta and the author of “Growing Up King: An Intimate Memoir.” The civil rights advocate played his father in the 2002 TV movie “The Rosa Parks Story.”
He bought the property in 2006 for $4.16 million, public records show.
Joseph Brauer, Mauricio Umansky and Brendan Fitzpatrick of the Agency are the listing agents.
