A-list actor Jack Nicholson has sold his longtime retreat in Malibu for $3.5 million, the Multiple Listing Service shows. The 28-acre property came on the market in February at $4.25 million.

Zoned for equestrian use, the spread includes a ranch-style main house, a caretaker home, a tennis court, a cabana, a putting green, a swimming pool, a grotto-style spa and miles of trails. The single-story main home, built in 1966, has mountain and ocean views. Its 2,313 square feet of living space contains three bedrooms, two bathrooms and maid’s quarters.

Nicholson, 74, won Oscars for his roles in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (1975), “Terms of Endearment” (1983) and “As Good as It Gets” (1997). His career also has included playing lawyer George Hanson in “Easy Rider” (1969), maniacal villain Jack Torrance in “The Shining,” (1980) and the Joker and his alter ego Jack Napier in “Batman” (1989).

FOR THE RECORD:
Brooke Langton: Actress Brooke Langton was described as the wife of director and producer Randall Zisk in Hot Property columns in the Business section on Oct. 9, 2011, and Jan. 29, 2012, about the listing and sale of their Sherman Oaks home. They are not married.

Public records indicate he bought the retreat in 1977 and owns several properties in Southern California, including an estate in Beverly Hills.

Rodrigo Iglesias and Richard Hilton of Hilton & Hyland in Beverly Hills were the listing agents. Sarah Sutton and Drew Snyder of Snyder Sutton Real Estate in Topanga represented the buyer, according to the MLS.

Hoping practice makes perfect

Actress Kate Walsh has put her Spanish-style estate in Los Feliz back on the market at $3,995,000. She had listed it at $4,295,000 early last year.

The gated home retains its 1920s details in the intricately tiled main hall and staircase, arched windows and passageways and stenciled beamed ceilings. A formal dining room with an oval inset ceiling, a wine room, a den-media room, breakfast room, five fireplaces and four bedrooms — one of which was turned into a walk-in closet — are part of the 5,940 square feet of living space in the two-story house. The home has been updated to include a combined kitchen-family room and an upstairs laundry.

The one-third-acre grounds have a swimming pool with spa, a pool house with a bathroom, an outdoor fireplace, an outdoor cooking center, an alfresco dining area and a circular driveway. The garage was converted into a gym and two offices.

Walsh, 43, stars as Dr. Addison Montgomery on “Private Practice” (2007-present), a spinoff of “Grey’s Anatomy,” on which she played the same character starting in 2005.

She bought the house in 2007 for $4.75 million, according to public records.

Juliette Hohnen of Teles Properties in Beverly Hills is the listing agent.

They’re not in Kansas anymore

A Malibu beach house owned by actress Judy Garland when she was married to film and stage director Vincente Minnelli has sold for $1,475,000.

The buyers are Mitchell and Stacy Leib. Mitchell Leib is president of music and soundtracks at Disney Studios.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom, Cape Cod-style home of 1,300 square feet is on Las Tunas Beach. There are expansive decks overlooking the ocean, high ceilings and hardwood floors. The living room and master bedroom have wood-burning fireplaces. The property also has a courtyard and direct beach access.

The grant deed shows that Judy Garland Minnelli purchased the then-newly built house in November 1947.

The Oscar-winning Garland, who died at 47 in 1969, is remembered for her role as Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” (1939). She also starred in such musical hits as “Meet Me in St. Louis” (1944) and “Easter Parade” (1948) and received an Academy Award nomination for best actress for her performance in “A Star is Born” (1954).

The Leibs plan to update the house, which was described as a fixer-upper by their agent, Kathleen Smith of Rodeo Realty’s Studio City office.

Irene Dazzan-Palmer and Sandro Dazzan of Coldwell Banker in Malibu were the listing agents.

There are five bedrooms, 12 full bathrooms and five half-bathrooms. The nearly one-acre property includes a swimming pool, cabanas and a guesthouse.

Wiatt bought the property in 2004 for $3.2 million, public records show.
