A century ago, stars like Charlie Chaplin were revolutionizing entertainment, the Getty family was forging an oil empire, and Los Angeles was surpassing San Francisco as the west coast’s largest city. Fast forward 100 years, and while modern-day L.A. may be reinventing itself at record speed, the history behind our city’s culture and character remains preserved in architecture.

L.A. Times writers Deborah Netburn and Chris Reynolds created a list of some of the most admired buildings from the roaring twenties. They joined Spectrum News 1’s Renee Eng for a glimpse into this iconic era.
