Emmys: ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ among Twitter picks

Who would win the Emmys if social media chose?

In an era when no available data goes unanalyzed, the social media research firm Fizziology has looked to Twitter to guess who might win in the major categories.

By that measure, “Breaking Bad,” “Game of Thrones” and “American Horror Story” seem to be cleaning up among the microblogging masses.

The company pulled tweets about the awards show and weighed the volume of people saying who they want to emerge victorious.

Starting with the dramatic categories, fans rooted overwhelmingly for “Breaking Bad’s” Bryan Cranston to win lead actor. Twitter users leaned 83% toward the Walter White/Heisenberg performer on the AMC series, while “Mad Men’s” Jon Hamm is the distant runner-up, with 7% of the Twittersphere’s support.

Twitter pulse-taking also shows Aaron Paul bringing home the trophy for supporting actor with overwhelming support and Anna Gunn winning in the supporting actress category. Both play characters on “Breaking Bad.”

For leading dramatic actress, the social media favorite is clearly Vera Farmiga of “Bates Motel.”

EMMYS 2013: Play-at-home ballot

In the best drama category, it looks like a toss-up between HBO’s “Game of Thrones” (24%) and “Breaking Bad” (23%).

“American Horror Story” and its leading ladies are getting a lot of love for the miniseries prizes, with Jessica Lange in first place for lead actress and Sarah Paulson taking 92% of the vote for supporting female.
