ABC News names Dan Abrams ‘Nightline’ anchor
ABC News has tapped Dan Abrams to be an anchor of “Nightline.”
The appointment of Abrams comes on the heels of ABC’s decision to shift “Nightline” anchor Terry Moran to chief foreign correspondent for the network’s news unit. Moran will be based in London.
Abrams has been at ABC News since 2011. A lawyer, he has provided analysis of high-profile trials for the network, mostly on its morning show “Good Morning America.” ABC News President Ben Sherwood said Abrams would continue to appear there and have his own regular segment on the show.
Prior to joining ABC, Abrams had a prominent role both on air and behind the scenes of MSNBC. He also owns Abrams Media, parent of the media news website Mediaite. Abrams has stepped back from the day-to-day operation of Abrams Media to focus on his work at ABC News.
The ratings for “Nightline” have tumbled since ABC moved it from 11:35 p.m. to 12:35 a.m. to give “Jimmy Kimmel Live” an earlier start time.
