Drew Barrymore gets honest about post-baby body: ‘Everything’s saggy’
Drew Barrymore is sharing some graphic nuggets of truth about her post-baby world: A) It isn’t all that glamorous and B) She’s come to be totally OK with it.
“After making two babies, holy cow, does your body do some crazy stuff!” the “Miss You Already” star overshared in a Glamour Q&A. “It’s hard to stay positive and love yourself. You feel like a kangaroo with a giant pouch; everything’s saggy and weird.”
Yes, folks, it appears that was all said on the record.
The actress, memoirist and Flower Cosmetics founder has two daughters -- Olive, 2, and Frankie, nearly 1 -- with husband Will Kopelman and has intentionally let her performing career take a back seat to parenting. She has taken on other “curation” side projects that allow her to spend more time with her kids, and that time away from the big screen seems to have played a role in giving her perspective.
“You think about how beautiful it is that you’re able to make children,” the former child star continued. “When I lose sight of that, I exercise, read Dr. Seuss’ ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go!’ and spend time with my kids. Then I start to see things that are bigger than myself.”
And just like that, Barrymore turned something awful-sounding into something pleasant and beautiful. Get. It. Girl.
“You don’t always have to look stunning on Instagram,” the 40-year-old said of taking selfies. “I’ve been makeupless, pregnant and stuffing food in my face in many pictures; that makes it all the more exciting when I do do something more attractive. I don’t like it when everyone looks so perfect all the time. Where’s the humor in that?”
Indeed. Now excuse me while I, too, go find some food to stuff in my face.
