Jermaine Jackson says sister Janet Jackson will ‘be a great mother’
Jermaine Jackson is now the first family member to confirm that his sister Janet Jackson has a baby on the way, saying that he’s proud he’s going to be an uncle.
“My sister Janet is my baby. She is fine but she’s having a baby,” Jermaine Jackson, 61, told reporters at an event Thursday (via People). “A baby having a baby. We look at her like our little baby and now she’s grown and having a baby.”
In April, Janet Jackson, 49, postponed the European leg of her “Unbreakable” tour, saying in a video statement, “My husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour .... I have to rest up, doctor’s orders.” Early in May, she released a music video for her song “Dammn Baby,” fueling the pregnancy rumors. While it has been reported that Janet was pregnant, the only comment from the singer’s rep has been to refer back to the April video.
Jermaine Jackson, who was at the Power Up, We Are the Future gala in Beverly Hills, said his sister is “feeling fine” and “loves to eat” while preparing for her first child.
The uncle-to-be also offered up his diaper-changing skills, if she needed them, but noted that Janet would “be a great mother because she is very tough, very strict.”
The “Rhythm Nation” singer and her Qatari businessman husband, Wissam Al Mana, 41, got married in 2012 but didn’t go public about it until 2013, when she spoke up to deny that they’d had an extravagant ceremony.
Meanwhile, brother Janet and Jermaine’s older brother Tito Jackson has a new song out, featuring Big Daddy Kane. The title?
“Get It Baby.”
