Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard marry in low-key courtroom ceremony
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard reportedly tied the knot Thursday in Beverly Hills, getting married on the spot after heading to the county clerk’s office to procure a license.
The couple, engaged since late 2009 and parents of Lincoln, 7 months, famously made a point of holding off on their nuptials until same-sex marriage was legal in California. After the Supreme Court did its work to knock down the ban in June, Bell proposed to Shepard (the “Parenthood” actor had done the asking the first time around) and the answer was “yes.”
The two simply wanted the license on Thursday until a court employee offered to marry them right away, according to TMZ, which first reported the news. The ceremony went down in a nearby courtroom with Bell reportedly shedding a tear or two. US Weekly also confirmed the wedding.
The low-key affair was actually in line with something Bell said last year to USA Today.
“I don’t want another day where I get dressed up and wear makeup and celebrate myself,” the “Veronica Mars” actress said. “We really don’t want any attention for it.”
So shhh ... don’t tell them we wrote this story, OK?
