Matthew Morrison of ‘Glee’ marries Renee Puente on Maui
Matthew Morrison and Renee Puente tied the knot over the weekend, putting a bow on their three-year courtship.
The “Glee” stalwart, 35, and the 31-year-old model were married Saturday, his representative confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.
About 50 guests witnessed the couple exchanging vows at a private estate on Maui, People reported Sunday. And although they were not the main entertainment, Morrison and Puente delivered a hula performance -- her first, then the two together -- and sang a duet of Laura Benanti’s “Starry Eyed/Video Games” during the reception.
The bride wore a Gustavo Cadile gown and the groom wore a Brooks Bros. tux, the magazine said.
The couple got engaged in June 2013, with the news going public at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s White Tie and Tiara Ball, where the “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” star and his husband, David Furnish, made the announcement.
That was followed by a rendition of “Your Song” dedicated to the couple and performed by John along with Coldplay singer Chris Martin.
Morrison, who went to high school at the Orange County School of the Arts when it was in Los Alamitos instead of Santa Ana, as it is now, released an album of Broadway standards last year. He’ll be back for the sixth and final season of “Glee” next year.
Incidentally, though his character Will Shuester is on his second marriage and Morrison was engaged once before, this is the first time the actor has tied the knot in real life.
