Video: How ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ shot the Seoul car chase

“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” wasn’t all James-Spader-robot scenery-chewing and superheroes, there were also exploding car chase scenes so huge that the crew had to shut down most of Seoul to film them.

We have an exclusive look at the behind-the-scenes video on the new “Avengers: Age of Ultron” DVD/Blu-ray release that takes audiences on set while the cast and crew were filming those massive scenes.

Executive producer Jeremy Latcham equated the shooting in Seoul to shutting down the “405, the 101, the 10 all in the middle of Los Angeles, all on a weekday.”

The movie chase that ultimately resulted in the Avengers being able to procure the body of Vision from Ultron’s evil clutches featured Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Chris Evans’ Captain America -- but it was stunt people such as Bobby Holland Hanton (portraying Steve Rogers/Captain America) who were the real stars.

The video also touches on the look of the contemporary city and the collaboration with local officials in letting the production shut down and use major freeways.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” cost about $250 million to make, and has grossed about $1.5 billion worldwide. “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is to be released on digital HD Sept. 8 and on Blu-ray Oct. 2.
