HBO’s “Luck” shut down this week after the death of a third horse on the set fueled controversy over the treatment of the animals used in the production. The executive producers released a statement announcing the cancellation and added, “While we maintained the highest safety standards possible, accidents unfortunately happen and it is impossible to guarantee they won’t in the future.” (Gusmano Cesaretti / Associated Press)
Charlize Theron is a brand new mom to a baby boy named Jackson, her rep told the press this week. The single Oscar winner isn’t letting mommy-hood slow her down. She stepped out Wednesday to honor her stylist Leslie Fremar and has a few movies on the horizon, including “Snow White and the Huntsman” and “Prometheus.” (Frazer Harrison / Getty Images)

Rihanna is finally addressing the controversy over her recent collaboration with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. “The hottest R&B artist out right now is Chris Brown,” she told Ryan Seacrest’s morning radio show. “So I wanted him on the track.” She went on to say that she and Brown, who was charged with beating her in 2009, thought that doing two tracks (one for each singer’s album) would bring their fans back together. “There shouldn’t be a divide. You know? It’s music, and it’s innocent.” (Daniel Deme / EPA)
