Jennifer Love Hewitt’s mother, Patricia Hewitt, has died from complications of cancer, the actress’ representative said Wednesday. She was 67.

“Her family mourns her loss,” the rep said in a statement. “She was an angel to all who knew her and they are grateful she is now in a better place. They ask for privacy at this difficult time.”

Jennifer, who had flown to the Monte Carlo Television Festival early Monday, returned home before her mother passed away, according to USA Today.

Patricia brought her 10-year-old daughter to L.A. from Texas in 1989 on what turned out to be good advice from a talent scout.

In her current Lifetime series, “The Client List,” 33-year-old Jennifer reprises a prostitute role she played in the 2010 TV movie of the same name. The actress said back then that her mom found the racy role “hilarious,” despite it being a departure from a previously wholesome image.

This April, “The Ghost Whisperer” star explained her decision to do the new series. “Starting my 24th year in the business, I needed a little bit of a re-creation,” she told The Times. “I looked at my career and thought, ‘Let’s shake it up a little bit. Let’s have butterflies in our stomach.’”

Patricia Hewitt is also survived by her son, Dr. Todd Hewitt.
