Rebel Wilson will host 2013 MTV Movie Awards
Australian comedian Rebel Wilson is coming off a banner year in 2012 with a new high-profile gig: host of the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.
Wilson, who appeared in the box office sensation “Bridesmaids” last year and starred in “Pitch Perfect,” “Bachelorette” and “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” this year, in addition to voicing a character in “Ice Age: Continental Drift,” is on a major career upswing.
Two weeks after her hosting gig next spring, she’ll appear in Michael Bay’s new film “Pain & Gain.”
MTV made the announcement during the final episode of “Jersey Shore” in a short skit featuring Wilson and British comedian Matt Lucas, who played her brother in “Bridesmaids.”
Wilson would be the first woman to host the jokey award show in six years, since Sarah Silverman was host in 2007.
The show airs on MTV on April 14.
