Barbra Streisand to make first ‘Tonight Show’ appearance in 50 years
Barbra Streisand is returning to the “Tonight Show,” and it only took five decades.
On Monday the iconic pop diva will make her first appearance on the late-night show in more than 50 years when she stops by the NBC staple.
Host Jimmy Fallon has cleared his slate for Streisand and is dedicating the entire hour to the beloved entertainer, who will also perform.
The last time Streisand visited the show was back in 1963 when Johnny Carson had her on to talk about her debut album. Since then she’s gone on to become one of the bestselling musical artists of all time, with No. 1 albums in five consecutive decades, and one of the few entertainers to attain EGOT status (having won Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards).
Streisand’s appearance is in support of her upcoming duets album, “Partners.” The 72-year-old’s latest release pairs her with a roster of male crooners across many genres.
Andrea Bocelli, Michael Bublé, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Josh Groban, Billy Joel, John Legend, John Mayer, Lionel Richie, Blake Shelton and Stevie Wonder all appear on the album. Streisand also sings with her son, Jason Gould. Elvis Presley even appears from beyond the grave for a duet.
“Partners,” the follow-up to 2011’s “What Matters Most,” arrives on Tuesday.
