Watch Eminem’s new music video for ‘Berzerk’

“Life’s too short to not go for broke” is a key refrain in Eminem’s new single, “Berzerk,” and that theme plays out in the new video for the song that premiered today, Sept. 9, and which has logged more than 350,000 views in its first few hours on YouTube.

Producer Rick Rubin gets plenty of camera time alongside the Detroit rapper as they occupy center stage in front of a room-sized boom box. The old-school flavor is further enhanced by the image of a behemoth cassette, rather than a CD, being the medium on which the song plays out.

“Let’s take it back to straight hip-hop and start it from scratch,” Eminem raps over an uncluttered track based on a crunching hard-rock riff supplied by shredding electric guitar and pounding drums instead of a synthesized beat.

The video also includes cameos by Kid Rock and includes a wickedly funny celebrity name-dropping bit in which Eminem raps:

They say that love is powerful as cough syrup and Styrofoam
All I know is I fell asleep and woke up in that Monte Carlo
With the ugly Kardashian
Lamar, oh sorry yo, we done both set the bar low
