Lawn bowlers roll out their U.S. Open
Lawn bowlers are on the greens in Laguna Beach, Newport Beach and other area cities this week for one of their biggest events, the U.S. Open of Lawn Bowls, which began Sunday and continues daily through Saturday.
Players from several countries play two- to three-hour matches during which they roll a resin “bowl” down the green in an effort to get it as close as possible to a cue ball-like “jack.”
The finals are set for Saturday at the Laguna Beach Lawn Bowling Club.
