No, this photo isn’t from some horrfying alternate reality. It’s our reality, but don’t worry. The Daleks haven’t actually taken the royal family hostage.

Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, paid a visit to the Wales set of “Doctor Who” on Wednesday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Doctor.

And apparently, the prince revealed himself to be quite the Whovian himself, at least according to Matt Smith, the 11th Doctor.

“Showing them how to fly the TARDIS was a real treat and something I never thought I would be doing when I first took the role,” Smith said. “The Prince of Wales said he remembers watching the show when he was 15 and seemed very knowledgeable on the Who history, so it’s nice to think they are watching.”

While no one should lose any sleep wondering how the TARDIS was actually able to fly (it doesn’t), Charles and Camilla did meet Daleks, Cybermen and the villainous aliens known as the Silence during their visit to the Roath Lock studios in Cardiff Bay, Wales.

Prince Charles also tried his hand at being a Dalek himself, uttering such immortal Dalek lines as “Exterminate!” and “You are our prisoners.”

Matt Smith has announced that this will be his final year as the Doctor. Though a new Doctor hasn’t been announced yet, we’re starting the “Charles for the 12th Doctor” campaign right here.
