The votes have been cast and the numbers have been counted. The best "American Idol" is Season 10's victor, Scotty McCreery. The country crooner, who is one of the youngest to win the singing competition, beat out his 13 other "Idol" competitors for the title in The Times' poll we've been running for almost a month.

And though he ended up much lower on my personal rankings, McCreery's obviously doing something right.

Coming in second was fellow country star and Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips followed by the original "Idol," Kelly Clarkson. Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks rounded out the top five.

Cry with me that not enough people see Fantasia's greatness, and that your favorite (probably) didn't win either.
