‘Do No Harm’ pulled from NBC’s schedule

“Do No Harm” proved harmful to itself. The ratings-anemic freshman drama has been pulled from NBC’s schedule.

The cancelation comes after just two episodes. The prognosis hadn’t been good, considering the Thursday midseason drama, which centered on a doc with a split personality, had the unfortunate honor of becoming the lowest-rated in-season broadcast scripted series premiere in the history of the Big Four networks.

The drama, starring Steven Pasquale (“Rescue Me”), made its bow to 3.1 million viewers and a rating of 0.9 in the advertiser-cherished 18-49 demo. The numbers took a plunge with the airing of its second episode, with the demo rating falling to 0.7.

NBC has long struggled with the 10 p.m. Thursday time slot -- though, “Do No Harm’s” performance make those struggles seem peachy. Predecessor “Rock Center with Brian Williams” managed to drum up the occasional 1.1 rating in the slot. And last season’s Thursday night dramas at least did better in comparison: “Prime Suspect” premiered to 6 million viewers and a 1.8 in the demo and midseason launcher “Awake” drummed up to 6.2 million viewers and a 2.0 in the demo.

“Do No Harm” ties with CBS’ “Made In Jersey” as speediest yanks from schedules for the 2012-2013 seasons, both getting dropped after two episodes (though, “Jersey” would later burn off its remaining episodes on Saturdays).

Encore broadcasts of “Law & Order: SVU” will air in “Harm’s” place on Feb. 14 and Feb. 21. No word yet if there are plans to burn off “Do No Harm’s” remaining 10 episodes on NBC.
