Emmys 2013: ‘The Voice’ wins best reality-competition series

NBC’s “The Voice” did something its arch-rival “American Idol” couldn’t: It won an Emmy Sunday night in the best reality competition category.

This was the second straight year that “Voice” -- a singing contest hosted by Carson Daly -- was nominated. Last year, it lost to CBS’ “The Amazing Race.”

“Idol” has been nominated nine times, but not since 2011.

Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards are being held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, and the show is airing live on CBS.
