Monumental Mysteries In a new episode, history explorer Don Wildman travels to Vermont to visit the famous Round Schoolhouse built in 1821 by resident scholar Dr. John Wilson, who — his pupils were astonished to learn after his death — had previously been a notorious Scottish highwayman known as Captain Thunderbolt. 9 p.m. Travel
Crossbones Lowe (Richard Coyle) is forced to decide which is the worse of two evils when finds a way to notify Jagger (Julian Sands) of Blackbeard’s (John Malkovich) plan to target civilians in Jamaica, but then discovers Jagger may have even worse intentions. Claire Foy and Yasmine AlMassri also star. 10 p.m. NBC
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives In this new episode host Guy Fieri and guest Gene Simmons visit a Culver City hangout serving Hawaiian dishes then sample tamales and beef chamorro in Garden Grove before heading to Monterey for oysters and a pasta-seafood medley. 10 p.m. Food
The Almighty Johnsons It’s Axl Johnson’s (Emmett Skilton and Siobhan Marshall) 21st birthday, which correlates with the unusual happenings going on in the premiere of this import from New Zealand. Tim Balme, Dean O’Gorman, Jared Turner and Ben Barrington also star.10 p.m. Syfy

Frozen The Disney studio added another animated smash to its inventory with this 2013 fantasy, adapted from Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen” and sparked by a woman (voice of Idina Menzel) with the gift — and curse — of turning anything, or anyone, to ice. Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad also provide voices. 8 p.m. Starz
Apocalypto Director Mel Gibson’s 2006 film drama depicting 16th century Mayan culture stars Rudy Youngblood as a prisoner slated for sacrifice by the Mayans. Dalia Hernandez, Jonathan Brewster and Espiridion Acosta Cache co-star. (In Mayan language with English subtitles). 9 p.m. BBC America
