Lena Dunham, Adam Sandler share Chris Farley stories on ‘Late Late Show’
Thursday night, Judd Apatow began his short stint as one of the many guest hosts on CBS’ “Late Late Show” to pass the time between Craig Ferguson’s departure and James Corden’s debut.
Rather than follow Ferguson’s style of conducting one conversation with a guest at a time, Apatow instead relied on bringing out some of his friends, including “Girls” star Lena Dunham, Adam Sandler and Maria Bamford, to engage in a group discussion.
These being funny people, the talk quickly turned to their personal quirks, and it turned out that Dunham, Bamford and Apatow all have Obsessive-compulsive disorder quirks.
Though Sandler didn’t confess to any such tics, he did recall that his old “Saturday Night Live” pal Chris Farley had a compulsion to lick things.
“Chris Farley, everywhere we went, was licking everything,” Sandler said. “We went out to dinner at Wally and Joseph’s, like 20 of us... we’re walking and I’m talking to him and he goes, ‘Antsy, you just gotta give me a minute.’ And I go ‘OK, buddy,’ and I saw him run back a hundred feet and lick a mailbox and come running back.”
While Dunham also had a licking obsession, she also revealed that one of her compulsions was to imagine sex with Farley.
“I’m going to tell you something I’ve literally never told anyone,” Dunham said, before revealing that tidbit to Sandler. She said she imagined the act in even increments, usually in eights.
Why? “To avoid then having sex with Chris Farley,” she said.
The odd thing is that Dunham would have been just 11 years old when Farley died in 1997.
Apatow returns to host Friday night with guests Garry Shandling and Jeff Goldblum. Who knows was bizarre confessions will be elicited?
