Four colleges organize O.C. student fashion show and exhibit
Four Orange County community colleges that offer fashion design and merchandising programs are joining forces to showcase their students’ work in the first OC Colleges Fashion Week.
The week is scheduled to kick off Saturday with a reception at 7 p.m. at the Santa Ana College Arts Gallery, in the Santora Building at 207 N. Broadway, Suite Q, Santa Ana. The reception will be followed at 8 p.m. by a fashion show featuring designs from students in the programs at Santa Ana, Fullerton, Saddleback and Orange Coast colleges.
The designs are to remain on display at the gallery through May 3. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. on Fridays and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday May 3, during the monthly art walk.
Events
A Current Affair’s spring vintage pop-up market is scheduled Saturday at the Cooper Design Space, 860 S. Los Angeles St. in downtown L.A. Fifty vintage retailers and private dealers are expected to exhibit and sell their wares. Tickets are available online or at the door the day of the event. Regular hours are 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. ($8 in advance, $10 at the door), with early admission at noon ($16/$20).
Sample sales
Joie, Current/Elliott and Equipment are offering up to 75% off in a warehouse sample sale that started Wednesday and goes through Saturday. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The sale is at 4599 District Blvd., Vernon.
Apolis menswear brand is having a sample sale from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday at Apolis: Common Gallery, 806 E. 3rd St., Los Angeles.
Launches
Bauble Bar, the online jewelry retailer, has launched new pop-up bars in 35 Nordstrom stores nationwide, including those at the Americana at Brand in Glendale, the Grove in Los Angeles, Topanga in Canoga Park, Brea Mall in Brea, Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine, Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos, South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa and the Shops at Mission Viejo in Mission Viejo. Bauble Bar collection is also available online at shop.nordstrom.com.
Love + Made is featuring its Solestruck shoe collection in a pop-up shop at the Well in downtown L.A. from Thursday through April 13. The pop-up launches with a party Thursday featuring shopping from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and music, dancing, food, drinks and more till midnight. The Well is at 1006 S. Openings
Ulta Beauty is slated to open a store at the new Azalea Regional Shopping Center at 10 a.m. on Friday. The first 100 customers will receive gift certificates worth up to $100. There will also be free beauty consultations and makeovers, and one guest will win a box of products worth $235. The shopping center is at 4681 Firestone Blvd., South Gate.
Trunk show
Los Angeles handbag designer Paige Hamilton Design hosts a trunk show of spring styles from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday at 8465 1/2 Melrose Alley, West Hollywood.
