NEW YORK --Red carpet faves Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig showed their spring-summer 2013 Marchesa collection Wednesday afternoon in a hall at Grand Central Station, which made for a clash of cultures as celebs and the fashion crowd had to push their way through the rush hour throngs. Amazingly, it all went off without a hitch, and the runway show started only 20 minutes late.

The inspiration: India in the 1960s, right down to the blingy jewelry, which came from Jaipur’s Gem Palace, and the crystal-encrusted Christian Louboutin kitten heels fit for a maharajah.

The look: Indian princess. Draped, sari-inspired gowns in rich brocades and paisleys with tulle under-skirts. Cocktail dresses embroidered with gold leaf or shimmying with silk fringe. Lacey, bejeweled tunic tops worn with cropped pants.

The scene: Wacky. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West nearly stole the focus. Stacy Kiebler, Kelly Osbourne and Sarah Hyland were also in the house, not that anyone noticed once Kim-ye arrived.

The verdict: A bit too costumey perhaps. But they do design with the red carpet in mind, which is about as costumey as it gets,
