Gift pick No. 46: Elyse Graham fluorescent geodes
They are departures from the organic modernism that has washed over the home decor world: Los Angeles artist Elyse Graham’s geodes are wholly unnatural, otherworldly riffs on crystallized rock in neon colors that look borrowed from a nightclub, not an enchanted forest.
“I like the idea of taking this natural process that takes millions of years to accomplish and re-creating it in unnatural materials,” said Robert Apodaca, owner of the art and design gallery Fifth Floor, which has exhibited Graham’s work and is selling the geodes. “They’re just really beautiful.”
The pieces Fifth Floor has for sale are made of latex and urethane and sell for $450 each. You can check out more of the artist’s work on elysegraham.com.
