Previous royal visits to California
October 1977: Prince Charles makes an official visit to Los Angeles as part of a 10-day goodwill tour across the United States.
February-March 1983: Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, take a 10-day tour of the Golden State, where they make stops in San Diego, in Los Angeles, at then-President Ronald Reagan’s ranch near Santa Barbara, in San Francisco and at Yosemite National Park.
November 1994: Charles makes another visit to Los Angeles, this time in conjunction with UK-LA ‘94, a two-month citywide festival designed to showcase British culture in the United States. During his five-day trip, the prince also meets with schoolchildren and Hollywood stars.
November 2005: In their first royal tour together, Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, spend a week in the United States, including a stop in San Francisco.
