Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near Avalon
A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported late Monday 44 miles from Avalon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 11:10 p.m. PST at a depth of 14.3 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 58 miles from La Jolla and 60 miles from Encinitas.
In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
