Earthquake: 3.8 quake strikes near Mammoth Lakes

A shallow magnitude 3.8 earthquake was reported Sunday afternoon four miles from Mammoth Lakes, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:47 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 1.2 mile.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 70 miles from Clovis, 72 miles from Sanger and 76 miles from Fresno.

In the last 10 days, there have been five earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
