‘Acid bombs’ found at Sonoma County golf course
An investigation of a Sonoma County man who police say planted acid bombs on a golf course is underway.
Kevin Hornbuckle, 49, of Rohnert Park was arrested Saturday on suspicion of possessing and manufacturing a destructive device, according to the Rohnert Department of Public Safety.
Police don’t know why Hornbuckle planted the bombs at the Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park or whether he had a specific target, Sgt. Aaron Johnson said. Police said Hornbuckle is cooperating with investigators.
Club employees found the homemade bombs about 9:39 a.m. Saturday on the 18th fairway and moved them to a maintenance yard before police arrived. Police said the employees were trying to protect golfers.

A second device appeared to have detonated near the same area overnight, police said. Golfers were evacuated from the greens as a bomb squad from the UC Berkeley Police Department worked on securing the devices and Rohnert Park investigators looked for the suspect.
Investigators found plastic water bottles containing muriatic acid and aluminum foil, Johnson said. The device was destroyed.
The combination when shaken and disrupted is “super dangerous” and can injure anyone if detonated, he said.
Police later identified and arrested Hornbuckle, who had been arrested in the past on charges of making a bomb, Johnson said.
