Baby Jesus stolen from nativity scene at outdoor Valencia mall
Someone stole a baby Jesus figurine from a nativity scene at a Valencia mall, according to multiple reports.
The figurine was taken sometime Monday evening and hasn’t been seen since, though officials with the Westfield Valencia Town Center haven’t called police to report the theft, KTLA reported.
“It’s an important symbolic gesture that they should be able to have,” mall shopper Debbie Vir told NBC4. “If it’s a joke, they should find somewhere else to have a joke.”
The nativity scene is displayed annually by Grace Baptist Church in Santa Clarita.
Pastor Mike Gaston told CBS Los Angeles this isn’t the first time the figurine has been stolen, and though it’s an expensive “inconvenience,” the church would continue to display the scene every year. They just need to buy a new baby Jesus.
