Two young men were arrested this week for allegedly robbing a bank inside a Thousand Oaks grocery store and fleeing on a scooter, authorities said Thursday.
Dylan Jacob Bogart, 19, and Jasen Tyler Eckhart, 20, both of Thousand Oaks, were taken into custody Wednesday at their homes, said Sgt. Jason Robarts of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
One of the men was wearing a motorcycle helmet when he reportedly entered Von’s market in the 2000 block of Avenida De Los Arboles at 6:05 p.m. Monday and headed toward the U.S. Bank branch inside.
Robarts said he brandished a handgun and demanded money.
“It’s a pretty bold move to do that,” he said. “It was really desperate.”
The other man, also wearing a helmet, was on a scooter waiting outside. After robbing the bank, the pair rode off together, authorities said. They did not disclose how much money was taken.
As investigators followed up on tips, they were led to Eckhart and Bogart, Robarts said. They were booked on suspicion of armed bank robbery.
