Car plows into Irvine lake; no major injuries
A car plowed into an Irvine lake Friday night after the vehicle missed a turn, police said, but the driver and passenger suffered no major injuries.
The vehicle was headed south on Yale Avenue, which terminates at a “T-intersection” with Yale Loop Road, said Irvine Police Lt. Julia Engen. About 9 p.m., the car failed to make a turn and headed into the shallow lake.
Both occupants of the car, in their early 20s, got out of the vehicle themselves. One fled but was later detained by the authorities.
The Irvine residents were taken to a hospital for observation after suffering abrasions.
