Chlorine tanker truck overturns on 10 Freeway exit ramp in Montclair

A chlorine tanker truck overturned as it exited the westbound 10 Freeway in Montclair early Saturday, prompting closure of a portion of the freeway as hazardous material clean-up crews were dispatched to the scene.
The accident, which occurred shortly before 5 a.m., closed the Central Avenue exit ramp and one lane of the freeway, according California Highway Patrol Officer Gene Carrillo.

The driver of the truck had to be extricated from the cab of the vehicle, he said. He was transported to a local hospital.
His condition was not immediately available.
Emergency crews were planning to use pumping equipment to remove the chlorine from the tanker truck, authorities said. The freeway exit ramp and lane closure were expected to remain in effect for several more hours.
