Fatal crash closes 15 Freeway southbound in Cajon Pass for nearly 3 hours
A fatal crash closed all lanes of the southbound 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass early Sunday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The 2:36 a.m. crash occurred at Cleghorn Road when a big rig hit a stalled vehicle, and all southbound lanes were blocked because of debris and oil in the roadway, the CHP said. One motorist was killed.
At 5:13 a.m., two lanes were reopened, the CHP log said.
Earlier Sunday, a multiple-vehicle crash closed all westbound lanes of the 60 Freeway in Montebello for nearly an hour.
CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig said the 2 a.m. crash, which occurred east of Paramount Boulevard, involved a black Ford Expedition, a black sedan and possibly a truck. All lanes were blocked because of debris in the road. One lane reopened at 2:43 a.m., and the remainder of the lanes opened at 4:08 a.m.
There were no reports of injuries, but Kravig said the Montebello Fire Department sent a crew to the scene as a precaution.
