Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near San Jose

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Monday afternoon eight miles from San Jose, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:02 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.0 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was three miles from East Foothills, Calif; four miles from Alum Rock; six miles from Milpitas; and 80 miles from Sacramento, California.
In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
