Search underway for inmate who walked away from conservation camp

Authorities were searching Monday for a minimum-security inmate who walked away from a conservation camp in the Angeles National Forest.
Kevin M. Shann, 40, was last seen about 10:25 p.m. Sunday during a security check of his dorm at the Julius Klein Conservation Camp in Azusa, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Camp officials searched the dorm, surrounding buildings and the perimenter of the facility after Shann was discovered missing about 11:25 p.m. Local law enforcement, including the California Highway Patrol, were assisting in the search.
The camp provides firefighting training for inmates.
Shann was serving a four-year sentence for first-degree burglary and was scheduled to be released in 2016. He is described as 6 feet 3 inches tall and 197 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
