Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Maywood
A man was shot by Huntington Park police Tuesday evening in Maywood, authorities said.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives were en route to the site of the shooting at 54th Street and Maywood Avenue, sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey A. Gordon said.
The shooting did not involve sheriff’s deputies, Gordon said. Huntington Park, like other relatively small police departments, relies on the county sheriff’s department to independently investigate any officer-involved shootings, Gordon added.
The Sheriff’s Department could not immediately provide additional details on the shooting. Calls to the Huntington Park Police Department were not answered late Tuesday.
The condition of the adult male suspect shot by police is unknown, authorities said.
