DUI suspect draws Jennifer Lopez’s ire after car crash
A 53-year-old man was booked on suspicion of drunk driving after he drove into the back of a car carrying entertainer Jennifer Lopez, actress Leah Remini and their children, authorities said.
Robert J. Reitz was arrested Saturday evening after he crashed his truck into Lopez’s car on Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Remini, the former star of “The King of Queens,” was driving the car, which was stopped at the time of the incident, officials said.
Sheriff’s Department investigators said Reitz initially stopped after the crash, but then left the scene. He was arrested shortly after, at about 6 p.m., department officials said. He was released 13 hours later after posting a bail of $15,000.
Investigators said Reitz has so far been booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, and has not been booked on hit-and-run-related charges.
Lopez’s two children and Remini’s daughter were inside the car, law enforcement sources said, but no one reported any injuries.
“Sitting at a light, riding high right before some drunk fool rear ended us in my new whip!!!” Lopez wrote Saturday on a caption of an Instagram photo showing the annoyed-looking actress-singer sitting in the car with Remini.
In a message with hashtags including #DontdrinkandDrive #cursedthatfoolout, #mamabear and #theBronxcameout , Lopez added, “Thank god everyone ok!!!”
