West Covina man, 26, dies after suspected drive-by shooting
Authorities are investigating the death of a 26-year-old man who was killed in a suspected drive-by shooting early Sunday in Long Beach.
Officers were dispatched to the corner of 11th Street and Walnut Avenue around 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired, said Long Beach Police Sgt. Brad Johnson.
Police found a man on the residential street with at least one gunshot wound. Johnson would not say how the victim was discovered or where he was shot. Johnson said authorities believe the man was the victim of a drive-by shooting.
Lt. Larry Dietz of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the victim as Guillermo Iturralde of West Covina.
Long Beach Fire Department paramedics pronounced Iturralde dead at the scene. Johnson said it was not known whether the shooting was gang related.
