Man charged in sexual assault of Claremont girl, police say
A 34-year-old man has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in Claremont, police said Monday.
The girl was attacked March 21 after the suspect entered her home while she was alone, according to the Claremont Police Department.
Police said that evidence recovered at the scene led investigators to Joseph Chandler Davall, who lives in Yucca Valley. Davall was confronted Friday by officers who attempted a traffic stop. But he drove about a mile to his home and was arrested there.
A search warrant was served at the home, where “additional evidence was located and recovered that was related to the Claremont crime,” police officials said in a statement.
On Monday, police said that prosecutors had filed multiple charges against Davall including rape of a child under 14 years, burglary and rape by force or fear.
He was being held in lieu of $1-million bail and is scheduled to appear Tuesday in at the Pomona courthouse.
