Garden Grove man stabbed his wife in the head with a meat cleaver, police say
A Garden Grove man turned himself in to authorities Tuesday after stabbing his wife multiple times in the head with a meat cleaver in front of their 7-year-old son, police said.
Thang Van Nguyen, 46, tried to surrender to the Garden Grove Fire Department at about 6:45 a.m., telling officials he had murdered his wife, said police Lt. Bob Bogue. Fire officials notified police, who detained Nguyen.
He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

As police drove Nguyen to his home in the 12700 block of Flower Street, paramedics were arriving to treat his wife, who was still conscious.
Huong Nguyen, 44, was struck on the top of her head several times with a large meat cleaver during the attack inside a bedroom in front of the boy, Bogue said.
She was taken to a hospital and placed in a medically induced coma because of the traumatic brain injury, he said.
The couple had been having marital problems, and neighbors heard them arguing Monday night, Bogue said.
Authorities said an uncle is caring for the younger boy and the couple’s 19-year-old son.
