Pimp who baby-sat 3-year-old while mom worked as prostitute sentenced
A Lakewood man who forced a woman to work as a prostitute as he waited in a car with her 3-year-old son has been sentenced to four years in state prison.
Dandre Darnell Atkinson, 27, was convicted of felony pimping and pandering, the Orange County District Attorney’s office said in a statement.
Atkinson met the 24-year-old woman, identified only as “Jane Doe,” in an online chat site and persuaded her to become a prostitute and turn her earnings over to him, prosecutors said.
In mid-January, prosecutors said, Atkinson advertised the woman’s services on a website known for being a hub for prostitution.
Working undercover, Anaheim police officers spotted the woman on the streets days later and said Atkinson was sitting in a nearby car with the woman’s 3-year-old son.
Authorities said Atkinson was baby-sitting the child with the expectation that the woman was engaged in “commercial sex acts.”
Atkinson had previously been convicted of armed robbery in Los Angeles County in 2006.
