Man on scooter killed in crash with Santa Monica police cruiser
A 28-year-old Highland Park man died after a scooter he was riding collided with a Santa Monica police cruiser Saturday morning, authorities said.
The man was heading east on Pico Boulevard about 7:40 a.m. when the collision occurred. The cruiser was heading north on 4th Street.
The scooter driver was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The police officer suffered minor injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Neither the scooter driver or the officer were identified.
